Following the 2012 election, Wayne King was recruited to join the Office of Congressman Mark Meadows, where he served from 2013 to 2019 as Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Political Advisor. In 2019, he also served concurrently as Senior Advisor to Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., during the transition period from September to December. Wayne currently serves as Political Advisor to Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. (R-NC), a member of the House Ways & Means Committee.

In 2020, Wayne founded Old North Strategies, a government and public affairs firm representing clients at the federal, state, and local levels. Wayne frequently partners with other firms to provide clients with a well-rounded, bipartisan strategy approach.

A seasoned political operative, Wayne has served as a delegate to five Republican National Conventions since 2004 and was a member of the Republican National Committee Platform Committee in 2012.

Wayne currently serves on the Cleveland Community College Board of Trustees, an appointment by North Carolina Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger. He has served as Vice Chairman of the board, Chairman of the Personnel Committee, and as a member of the Finance Committee. In December 2022, Wayne was one of only thirteen community college trustees nationwide appointed to the National Association of Community College Trustees Public Policy and Advocacy Committee.

In July 2013, then-Governor Pat McCrory appointed Wayne to the Cleveland County Board of Elections, where he served as Chairman until November 2018. He has also been active in his community, serving as Chairman of the Budget & Finance Committee at his church, President of the North Elementary School PTO, and in various local leadership roles. He is a member of the North Carolina Professional Lobbyists Association.

Wayne's public service and community involvement have earned formal recognition, including resolutions of commendation from the Mayor and City Council of Kings Mountain (July 27, 2004) and the Cleveland County Board of Commissioners (November 2, 2017). He was named Volunteer of the Year by North Elementary School for the 2009–2010 school year.

As a political analyst, Wayne has appeared on CBS Evening News, CNN, NBC News, Fox News Channel, Newsmax, and in Roll Call, Politico, The Hill, Breitabrt, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, Vanity Fair and many other national and local outlets. He is a frequent contributor on North Carolina-based programs such as Capital Tonight (Spectrum News) and Flashpoint (WCNC Charlotte).

In addition to his public affairs work, Wayne is an entrepreneur. He is CEO and founder of King Realty Partners, CEO and founder of Right Way Solutions, a political consulting firm, and co-founder of Compliance Professionals, a campaign finance compliance firm.

Wayne was born and raised in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, and enjoys spending time with his fiancée, Nikki, and his son, Noah.
